Parents Turn Out to Learn About the Future of Smiley

At a Feb. 6 meeting of Stapleton and Park Hill parents on Feb. 6, DPS Supt. Boasberg described his current best idea, which is to combine the middle school attendance areas of Smiley and Stapleton schools, with all students selecting from five schools: Swigert IB program at Smiley; new program at Swigert, new school north of I-70, Bill Roberts or DSST. Most students, he said, would get their first choice (except DSST). Below: Parents met in small groups and wrote down their concerns. DPS called another meeting on Feb. 26 to respond to concerns.

Off-road Trail from Arsenal to Rocky Flats Will Become A Reality

Interior Secretary Salazar and Transportation Secretary LaHood came to the Arsenal to celebrate getting Federal funding that will finish the last seven miles to form an off-road cycling link between the Arsenal and Rocky the trails. And a new newly opened trail now connects Sand Creek Trail to the Arsenal. (Off-road directions from Stapleton to the arsenal are included.) Story on page 15.
