Cycletrack on 26th?

December 1, 2015 / John Fernandez / Transportation / No Comments

A recent survey of 26th Ave. residents showed they prefer a two-way “cycle track” to conventional bike lanes by a 2:1 margin. Forest City has opposed the change because it conflicts with approved plans and future Aurora homeowners on the south side of 26th would have to cross the cycle track to reach on-street parking. Northeast Transportation Connections (NETC), which did the survey, says a cycle track does not cost more, and the City of Aurora is “flexible” regarding traditional bike lanes or a cycle track. The Stapleton CAB will see whether Denver would support the cycletrack. NETC and CAB believe a cycle track will better accommodate bike traffic on 26th.
